According to the forecast data of Phillips McDougall, KLEFFMANN and Zhongnong Zongheng, the global sales of glufosinate-ammonium will increase from US$450 million in 2012 to US$1.050 billion in 2020, making it the fastest growing non-selective herbicide. In 2021, the global demand for glufosinate-ammonium is about 45,000 tons per year, and it is expected that the global demand for glufosinate-ammonium is expected to increase to 50,000 tons in 2022.

    According to the forecast of China Research Network, the global demand for glufosinate-ammonium will reach 67,600 tons in 2025. According to Zhongnong Zongheng's estimation, in 5-7 years, the demand for glufosinate-ammonium will increase by no less than 45,200 tons with the penetration of new-generation transgenics, the ban and substitution of paraquat, the increase of compound preparations and the decline in the price of glufosinate-ammonium. By then, the global use of glufosinate-ammonium is expected to reach about 100,000 tons (L-glufosinate-ammonium is calculated by half).
