Experts from institutions such as the Institute of Plant Protection, the Institute of Vegetable and Flower Research, Nanjing Agricultural University, and the National Meteorological Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences gave special reports on the occurrence patterns, monitoring and investigation techniques, and climate trend prediction of tomato leafminer, cowpea thrips, soybean root rot, and wheat stripe rust. The attending representatives also observed the progress of the construction of the Zhejiang Digital Three Agriculture Big Data Platform, and discussed topics such as the operation and management of national crop disease and pest monitoring regional stations, intelligent monitoring equipment, and the research and application progress of digital precision monitoring and early warning technology.
Based on a comprehensive analysis of the pre winter disease and pest base, host crops, meteorological conditions, and other influencing factors, the expert group predicts that the occurrence of major crop diseases and pests will remain severe in 2024, including wheat head blight and stem rot, southern rust of corn, armyworm, cotton bollworm, and sugar beet armyworm, rice "two migration" pests, stem borer, and sheath blight, vegetable thrips, tomato leafminer, and so on The risk of large-scale recurrence of migratory epidemic diseases and pests such as soybean root rot is prominent.
