The President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, recently stated in a discussion held by the Secretariat that he will meet the challenge and resolutely make Sri Lanka the first country in the world to completely eliminate the use of chemical fertilizers, and demanded that the import of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides and the use of these products be banned in the country.
