Recently, according to a survey conducted by Abiquim (Brazilian Chemical Industry Association), Brazil imported 272,200 tons of agricultural chemicals in the first half of 2021. Compared with Brazil's imports of 270,100 tons of pesticides in the first half of 2020, this figure has increased by 0.8%.

        According to Abiquim's survey report, Brazil's total pesticide imports in the first half of 2021 were US$2.068 billion. Compared with Brazil’s total pesticide imports of US$2.118 billion in the first half of 2020, a decrease of 2.4%,

        The export volume of agrochemicals produced in Brazil has dropped sharply, totaling 21,600 tons in the first half of this year, equivalent to 149,800 U.S. dollars. Compared with the 19,300 tons (equivalent to US$142,100) that Brazil sold to foreign markets, this figure dropped by 11.8%. With the appreciation of the Brazilian currency real against the U.S. dollar, the increase was 5.4% in U.S. dollars.

        The total value of chemical products imported by Brazil for all purposes in the first quarter was 25 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 27.8% compared with the same period in 2020, breaking the historical record of Brazilian imports in the first quarter. Abiquim claimed that this is due to the optimistic outlook for the Brazilian economy this year, and some activities that have been severely affected by the new crown epidemic are steadily recovering.
