According to the prediction of Sindevig (Brazilian plant protection products industry alliance), the net sales of Brazilian agrochemicals market is expected to reach US $13.3 billion in 2021.

    This prediction can be found in the report of Abiquim (Brazilian Chemical Industry Association). If this proves to be the case, the net sales of pesticide companies will increase by 7.3% over 2020. Brazil imported a total of 6.2 billion US dollars of pesticide products this year, a decrease of 10.1% compared with the previous year.

    Sindevig brings together Brazil's leading agrochemical companies. Sindevig estimates that the amount of pesticides "effectively applied" in crops is 536000 tons. If the forecast is confirmed, pesticide consumption will decrease by 10.1% compared with 2020.

    Ciro Marino, chief executive of Abiquim, said: "the data has increased, but the cost has also increased. Under the condition of maintaining a good balance, the only concern about lack of competitiveness is that imported products account for an increasing proportion of the product portfolio to meet Brazil's demand. It is estimated that the deficit of the industry will reach a record level of nearly $45 billion."
